What is Tanka?

Tanka is a traditional Japanese form of poetry consisting of five lines with a 5-7-5-7-7 syllable pattern. It's a beautiful way to capture moments, emotions, and observations in a mindful, structured format.

Traditionally, tanka employs a "turn" in the third line. This connects the first half of the poem (the kami-no-ku) with the second half (the shimo-no-ku).
